Land Controlbased Participatory Mapping Technique in Peatland Fire (Case Study: at Makmur Jaya Village, Indragiri Hilir Regency Riau Province)

Abstract

Participatory mapping is done by involving village governments and communities in the process of preparing village maps and land governance. Vulnerable locations are a reference in determining the place for implementing land management and related village groups. Supervision and application of social sanctions for village rules can run optimally for arsonists from inside the Makmur Jaya Village and outside the village. Prevention of fire from peatlands around oil palm plantations of PT. The BNS went well in accordance with the objectives, namely the capacity of the target village community to increase, whereas the number of hotspots became decreasing or nonexistent. The way to clear slash and burn land began to be abandoned along with the emergence of awareness of the dangers of burning land after land management activities through this participatory mapping technique. Burning coconut husk is also recognized as the cause of land fires, especially the long dry season. This research was conducted in the village of Makmur Jaya, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. This type of research is qualitative. Data collection is done by FGD and literature study. The results of the study, village regulations on land governance are one of the most important outputs of mentoring activities so that fire-prone villages have written rules about fire prevention
